Welcome to Our Puppy School

Woronora Road Veterinary Clinic Puppy Preschool

What is puppy preschool all about?

Puppy preschool is designed to give young puppies the essential social skills needed during their critical socialization period, which is between 8-16 weeks of age. The class encourages a strong bond between puppy and owner and sets the foundations for obedience training. The class will also provide information on how to care for your new puppy, including nutrition, environment enrichment and grooming.

Dog  Training

Our training methods are based on the Delta Canine Good Citizen Program, which involves using positive re-enforcement for good behaviour. Basic commands such as sit, stay and heel are taught, as well as covering any behaviour problems that owners are experiencing. The class includes information on toilet training and the best methods to achieve this. depending on how quickly the puppies are learning, there may even be some trick training too.

Classes will be run for one hour once a week over a 4 week period. All owners will be given homework each week to practice before the next class.

Requirements

  • All puppies must be vaccinated and wormed.
  • All puppies must have a lead and collar.
  • It is best to bring puppies to class hungry, as lots of lovely treats will be provided during the lesson.
  • if puppies have been home all day and have an abundance of energy, a short walk is advisable, but don't wear them out.

Cost

$25 per lesson ($100 to complete the course).

Puppy preschool is run by our vet nurse Tammi, who has successfully completed the

  • Hills Puppy preschool Training Course.
  • Hills Veterinary Nutritional Advocate Course.
